$989 Room + private bathroom in a luxury townhouse. Amazing rooftop deck, one block to UMD shuttle.

Steps from the bus, 10 minutes to campus by bike on the beautiful trolley trail (1.5 miles).

I have a large, very private bedroom available with a walk-in closet on your own floor in a new construction four level, four bedroom luxury townhouse....
We're on a street lined with cherry trees in the Hyattsville Arts District. This model also has the biggest rooftop deck in the neighborhood (with a great view!).

Plenty of garage space available and street parking (I ride a motorcycle and it's a two-car garage, so there's tons of space).

The house:

There is a bedroom opening up downstairs (you'd have the floor to yourself, with a private bathroom) in June, and another opening up upstairs (corner windows) also with a private bathroom in August. The rooms are large enough to fit a queen-sized bed, bookshelf, and desk; previous housemates have been PhD students, a director of grad programs, a lawyer for the Supreme Court, and an undergraduate student, so the house is *very* conducive to remote work / studying.

The middle floor has the living room, an extra half bath for visitors, and a gourmet kitchen with every kitchen gadget known to man. There's a large sofa set and a ton of seating if you have guests over, as well as a giant TV with all the streaming channels. There's also a large meat freezer on the ground floor.

The fourth floor is a ~900 sq. ft. rooftop deck with an outdoor sofa / table set and two day beds to hang out on when the weather's nice (I also work from there frequently. I'll eventually build a full outdoor kitchen up there.

Laundry (free) is on the ground floor.

Neighborhood and location:

It's a 10 minute bike ride on the trail to the UMD College Park campus, a 35 minute walk, or a 5 minute drive. There's also a UMD shuttle and a neighborhood shuttle service to the metro. Ubers are usually 2-5 minutes away.

The neighborhood was designed as an arts community. Live music, spoken word poetry events, book readings, and everything from gourmet local coffee to a secondhand bookstore(!) to local woodworkers and ceramics are within easy walking distance.

Restaurants:
There are restaurants and cafes everywhere; you won't get bored.
1. Mexican right outside the front door; their birria is great.
2. Two/50 is the best BBQ on the east coast five minutes' walk up the trolley trail.
3. Busboys, Franklins, a new Japanese place, and Franklins Ice Cream are 5 minutes down the trolley trail the other way.
4. Vigilante is a 10 minute walk.
5. Riverdale Farmers' Market is 5 minutes up the trail as well, at the MARC train station (one stop, 10-15 minutes to Union Station, DC).
6. Whole Foods is a 15 minute walk.

The neighbors are very friendly; lots of grad students and professors since UMD is so close. Probably the dog walkingest neighborhood I've lived in. Miles of beautiful (no motorized traffic) walking and biking trails a block from the house.

About me:

I'm Dave, a technical program manager who works in cybersecurity. Just wrapped up an MS this Spring. Currently working on an MBA and cranking out a bunch of cybersecurity certs, and re-starting the job hunt. Hobbies include cooking, reading, and motorcycles. I've spent the last four months out of the country (I tend to travel a lot).

Fellow Bengali speakers welcome, since I'm fluent but getting rusty. Huge bonus points if you can teach me Spanish.

You can be of any race, skin color, ethnic origins, or LGBTQ; I've lived with all of the above over the years. Bonus points for people with interesting stories or interesting travel. Extra bonus points if you have a puppy I can take pictures of.

Write a good introduction for yourself! If you read this far, add a note on your favorite book or author.

Security deposit, credit check, and your first month's rent due at signing. Since I've been asked about this a couple of times already: AirBNBs aren't allowed anywhere in the Arts District, so you will *not* be able to AirBNB this room.

If you would prefer the room furnished at a slightly increased rent, I have a bed, dresser, desk, and barely-used twin mattress.
