I lived at both the 8th floor and 9th floor apartments in the 3 years I was there. In just those 3 years, the quality of the place went down. From trashcans by the elevators and routinely being cleaned to no trashcans by the elevator at all. Half the dumbbells and equipment in the gym missing. In the three years I have been there they were already on their third property manager. The garage doors and elevators regularly breakdown. They only have one maintenance person for the whole building.... The property has good spacing and is in a good location if you need or want to be in downtown Baltimore. Some of the people on my floor were good too. However, at this point most of them are leaving if they have not done so already. Overall the biggest issue seems to be poor management from my perspective. When my heater broke out during the holidays in November 2023 when it was freezing cold and it took two weeks for my heater to get fixed, the Regional Director sent me a $100 discount on the rent for my troubles. I couldn't tell you how disrespectful that was. I took them to escrow, prorated the rent by the two weeks I was without heat and terminated my lease.

The property and management were pretty good when I moved in. The apartment size is worth the rent. Do not expect a luxury building as advertised on their website. Within the last year the building has started to decline. Maintenace request takes longer to get filled and often have to send follow-up emails. Also, there are unhoused people that sleep in front of the building now and they keep the street filthy, I am embarrassed to invite company over. This building has so much potential, but I... will be moving out when my lease ends because I am tired of stepping over unhoused people when I leave the building. Before signing a lease here, I suggest that you do a night visit on the weekend.

My experience with 222 E Saratoga Apartments has overall been negative. The apartment that I moved into was dirty and disgusting. The surrounding location is also bad. There are MUCH better apartments available in Baltimore to spend your money on. The management here does not seem to care. Although the price is reasonable, I do not recommend anyone to move here.

I've lived in numerous downtown apartments in several cities. I'm in my second year at 222 E. Saratoga. The newly renovated units are beautiful and very spacious. The location is fantastic. The block is up and coming, and is an easy walk to Mt. Vernon, downtown proper, and the harbor. Being immediately next to the farmer's market and Baltimore's new most buzzworthy restaurants (Ida B's) is a huge plus. The amenities are great (very clean and posh common area and gym).
The new management... is extremely professional, responsive, and courteous.
I'd strongly recommend the building to anyone wanting to live downtown.

Have consistently felt that management does not care about its residents, just signing new residents up.For months, we've had a garage key that is dysfunctional. This means that when we need to enter the garage,we actually have to leave the car parked on the road, walk around the sidewalk into the apartment and all around down to the garage to open it from the inside so we can drive our car in.We've given up on asking for a new key.A definite inconvenience for a parking spot we pay a lot of money... for.In another situation,I was without a working building key for weeks after it was demagnetized.I sent maintenance requests, forms through the web site, emails, etc. to no success. This meant I had to wait outside for a current resident to let me in anytime I needed to reenter the building.I finally got a new key but the amount of effort it took to replace was inordinate.
I rarely print things but this morning I tried to print a time sensitive document at the business center. As usual, the printer doesn't work.I walked into the office to ask if they would mind printing the document for me.They said to send it in an email if for them & they would print for me today.I thanked them & immediately sent the document. After waiting for 8 hours, I finally walked to the office to follow up in person. The individual in the office turned in her chair and acted like she didn't see me.Then she continued to ignore me while I knocked. After standing there long enough, they finally opened the door.Considering I was following up on something discussed that day, not a new issue, the unfriendliness seemed unwarranted. When I asked about the document, they apathetically said they couldn't print it.It put me in a bind to try to find a fedex tonight to print my document. An email letting me know they couldn't print it or just saying from the beginning they couldn't would've gone a long way.
After a year of living here, for a lease we signed over 12 months ago, management is also attempting to charge us an extra deposit on that lease. This does not make sense considering we moved in with all fees paid over a year ago, but is just another example of the issues we've experienced.Loud music from neighbors is common. We've gotten used to it;will just put in ear plugs, etc but previous apartments I lived in worked to preserve a quiet atmosphere for residents.I understand the goal is to make money but advice for Saratoga management is to invest in customer service and care about current residents.
